NORTHERN ILLAWARRA NEIGHBOUR AID INC

(A Department of Ageing, Disability & Home Care funded program)

Hello everyone. On 6 February our new project, the Café Club (Culture, Activity, Friendship, Education) was opened by Mr Rex Jackson. The morning was a great success with Mr Jackson speaking on the changes and community reforms that have taken place over many years in this State. The fabulous Bill and Jean of “2 Easy” provided the entertainment, moving the two coordinators to the dance floor (enough said about that) with the audience tapping their toes to their easy style of keyboard and song. We are very excited about being able to provide this new program, as it has been an identified need in this area for many years. If you would like to be part of the club please contact the office for registration. It will be held fortnightly on the first and third Thursday of each month with a variety of activities, guest speakers and entertainment and will include morning tea. Transport can be provided if you have difficulty getting to the centre.

DESPERATELY SEEKING VOLUNTEERS: If you read this report each month you will know that we are always trying to recruit volunteers to support our senior and disabled members of our community. However at the moment we are in dire need of volunteers to drive our clients to doctors and hospital appointments, and volunteers to drive our 19 seater community bus once a month for our shopping and social outings. Meal Services are also needing a volunteer on a permanent basis for one Thursday every four weeks for approximately one hour. Without the community support we will have great difficulty providing these services. Training, ongoing support and vehicle reimbursement is available. PLEASE HELP.
