HELENSBURGH AND DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Society was the beneficiary of a $25,000 bequest from the family of the late Laurie Hill, wishing to acknowledge Laurie’s great love of the area and its history. The bequest came as pleasant surprise and will give the Society some much needed financial resources to continue the work of preserving our local heritage. We are very grateful to Laurie’s brother, Les Hill, for this kind gesture to the society and wish to acknowledge our thanks to him.

For Heritage Week, the Old Mine Surgery will be open, so come along and meet some of the members of the Historical Society and find out more about this unique area in which we live. Have a look at the surgery which was the premises of ‘Old Doctor Cox’, the mine doctor in the early 1900’s. Enjoy a Devonshire tea. The surgery will be open from 10am – 3pm on Sunday 27th April 2003, cnr Parkes and Junction Streets, Helensburgh. Ph Linda Bunclark 4294 8156 for more information. Linda Bunclark, President
