HELENSBURGH LIONS CLUB

The second part of our year is well and truly underway, and while we are still a very small group and would gladly welcome new members, we are getting on with assisting the Helensburgh & District community. We have donated over $180,000 into this community since we started, and have assisted many varied causes, such as fire victims. Visual things include the shade cover over the toddlers’ pool, the roof on the rotunda, the coal skips in the park, and the dedicated War Memorial at Stanwell Tops.

On Clean Up Australia Day several friends helped in cleaning up the Stanwell Tops Memorial Park, prior to our annual Anzac Day Service. We wish to thank Jo and Matthew Hooper, Paul Harvey, Warren, Robert and Rachel Selby, and Courtney Peppernell for their help. A large thank you too to Ron & Pete’s Family Meats for donating the meat and sausages for the BBQ after the cleanup. A great deal of rubbish was removed and we have asked Council to put the park back on its mowing list so that the grass does not get out of hand again.

We have several more projects in mind. However, as indicated above, many hands make light work, and we would really appreciate more members there are different types of membership, so find out more by contacting our Membership Chairperson, Lion Mike Bashford, on 4294 8275 (ah). Lion Libby Cross
