In April - Fridays 4 and 11 at 8pm and Saturdays 5 and 12 at 8pm - SPAT, with Circus WOW, will present our next production An evening of Starry Nights, Laughter and Lusty Ballads. Unlike most of SPATs performances, which are often geared to young audiences, SPAT Committee would suggest that this entertainment is more appropriate for mature audiences. Cameron Sharp writes: Stanwell Park Arts Theatre (SPAT) and Circus WOW come together for the first time to present Pig Kazoo with special guests Cheeky Tsatsiki and members of Circus WOW.
Pig Kazoo was written by local playwright Cameron Sharp and won the second annual SPAT One Act Playwriting Competition in 2002. Directed by the very experienced Lajos Hamers, this is the world premier season of Pig Kazoo.
Based on a true story, Pig Kazoo follows the antics of two female clowns embarking on a working tour of country NSW, not realising that pigs and starry nights might be just as alluring as the razzle dazzle of the big top.
Joining SPAT will be the wild women from Circus WOW, already widely loved and laughed at after their two shows at the IPAC last year. Each evening will feature a varying choice from the circus extensive repertoire.
As well as acrobatics and clowning, Circus WOWs resident band Cheeky Tsatsiki will showcase their prodigious talents as some of the Illawarras most adventurous musicians, and most tongue-in-cheek divas.
Performances will be at the CWA Hall, The Drive, Stanwell Park. Bookings can be made by ringing 4294 4060. Tickets: Full $10, Concession $5.
