HELENSBURGH BOWLING CLUB

Helensburgh Bowling Club Sunday Social golf club
It was a windy day in early May when 20 brave souls slipped on their golf shoes to do battle with the Royal Boomerang Golf Course. The event was 4BBB stableford, a paired/teams event when the best stableford score between the two players is registered on the game card with the highest collective score being deemed the winners. Sounds like fun? You bet it was! All 20 starters and their guests had a ball (no pun intended) with the winners on the day being well rewarded.
The on-course rules for the day made things interesting, having to tee up due to the amount of water and slush under foot. It certainly pushed a few of our members, or should I say tested their mettle and patience. We shouldn’t really complain; we need the rain to fill our dams. A few balls went missing in action, as did a lot of tees.
The strike it lucky hole didn’t go off, thus making the booty even bigger for next month. The anticipated amount for June is around $200. Not bad for a day out in the fresh air. All one needs to do is knock the ball within one metre of the pin on the third hole and the treasure is yours.
First on the day were, with a huge 48 points and working the course to their advantage, Brian Kane and Tony Gersback. The lads won a Hanimex digital camera each. Coming in second with a score of 37 points were newcomers Lance Delehunt and Dave Flewin. The boys happily received a Breville grill and sandwich press each.
Bringing in third spot on a countback were the lovely Jan Howe and smiling Dave Green. Their team score of 36 points won each a Homedic’s compact percussion massager.
We also welcomed Rod Duffy who hit off with the group for the first time. He managed to pick up a number of the minor prizes as he went around. Well done Rod, nice to have you on board.
Other minor prize winners included Lance Delehunt, Gersy, Brian Kane, Margy Maxwell, Jan and Peter Howe.
We have an open invitation to anyone who is keen to have a hit and who would like to meet some of the cheeky locals. Why not join us at our next game - 1st Sunday of each month. Tee time is 8am and the event will be stableford with an old favourite thrown in - team survival. A fun time is guaranteed; hope to see you there.
