FILMS UP NORTH PREMIERE A GRAND SUCCESS
"The Films Up North (FUN) premiere night on 26 July was a grand success" said convenor Sian Morgan. Over 100 people attended to see Dr Strangelove and a short Felix the Cat Pines and Dines. "The premiere night was so successful that we had to turn people away as we didnt have enough seating" she said. The night had a very exciting atmosphere with cinema in Thirroul bringing the community together. Together with the Stanwell Park Arts Theatres monthly screening, the Northern Illawarra is a shining light for community theatre.
Our pianist, who accompanied Felix the Cat, received an ovation. Peter Hand from ABC Illawarra gave an insightful talk about our feature, Dr Strangelove. Wayne Turner, of Stanwell Park Arts Theatre, our projectionist for the night, ensured that there were no technological hitches. Everything ran smoothly and it was a fabulous night, Sian reported.
Our next movie is The Killing, a 1956 classic which will be screened on Saturday 13 September at 7.30pm at the Thirroul Neighbourhood Centre. Up and coming movies will include Whats Eating Gilbert Grape? on 11 October. Visit our website www.ccrp.com.au/fun for our six month programme. Contact: Stephen Allen 42673493.
