Stanwell Park Arts Theatre
The three-day drama youth workshop during the school holidays was a great success, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Wendy, Jo and their 24 talented performers put on a great evening show, following three sessions of very physical but very enjoyable workshopping.
The SPAT musical trivia night was a lot of fun, with Darryl and Ian testing both our musical knowledge and our singing ability throughout the entire night. Special mention must be made of the members of the two young tables, the teenagers and under-12s. They impressed everybody with their musical and singing skills.
The Trivia night was a local fundraiser, raising $300 for the CWA to help with the cost of the sewer and $200 for the Friends of Stanwell Park - both great groups within The Park that do a lot for the local community.
The production of Women of Lockerbie, planned for 23 July, did not go ahead as one of the cast, Tom Hadley, became very ill. Tom is a SPAT member from way back and we sincerely hope he has a speedy recovery.
Finally, we planned to show Stars Wars Episode IV at our next screening. However, George Lucas has withdrawn permission for film societies to show it. So in its place, SPAT Films will be screening Robots on 20 August. It is a great family film so come along and enjoy the night. If you are not a film society member, then join on the night for 2005. It is only $5 for students, $10 for adults and $25 for a family.
SPAT meets on the second Thursday of every month. If you interested in theatre, drama, film and/or stagecraft or simply enjoy a night out with good company, please come along. For details ring Wayne Turner on 4294 2661.
