Schoolboys compete for Paul McGregor Shield

Stanwell Park Public School’s rugby league team achieved the ultimate rush when they played at WIN Stadium on 29 July in the curtain raiser for the St George Illawarra Dragons versus the Sydney Roosters NRL game.

The boys were competing for the Paul McGregor Shield which they had contested in June in the district championships but no clear winner emerged as they drew with Koonawarra, being declared joint champions. The Friday night football game was to decide the overall winner in a dream come true for the two teams.

Whatever the result, playing on hallowed turf in front of a stadium-full of Dragons and Roosters supporters would have been pure gold.
