Community rallies behind Radford family
The Joanne Mackay Breast Cancer Foundation has donated $4000 to Stanwell Park’s Michelle Radford to help pay for her treatment.
Michelle, a mother of five, has HER2 breast cancer and the drug which will give her the best chance of survival Herceptin costs $60,000 a year as it is not on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
Michelle and her husband Steven will have to sell their home to pay for the drug if they are unable to find the money elsewhere.
The Helensburgh Lions Club, Illawarra Credit Union, BiLo supermarket and federal member for Cunningham Sharon Bird have all got behind Michelle and her family to raise funds for the treatment.
About $8000 has been raised so far.
Donations can be made through the Illawarra Credit Union to the Michelle Radford Trust, member number 572410, account no 2499 10299.
