Council disbands neighbourhood committees
Wollongong City Council will consider a report on new ways to engage and consult the community on a range of issues, following a decision to disband the current system of neighbourhood committees.
Councillors voted seven to five to disband the committees and called for a further report looking at options for new models of engagement and consultation, including on-line discussions and informal methods such as drop-in centres and events.
Councillors have adopted a framework which will establish a standard approach to community engagement across Council.
