Ten-hup! Elaine gets physical
You don’t have to join The Army to get The Edge in your fitness regime.
Personal trainer Elaine Bolton of Physical Pursuit (above) is running basic training at The Tops Conference Centre, starting 25 October, and recruits will discover many of the defence force’s challenges without having to sign up.
The military-style fitness training will incorporate running drills, circuit and resistance training and weight work.
The High Ropes course at The Tops will be used for vertical climbing and will include the “leap of faith” where participants jump from a telegraph pole to a trapeze.
“There will be both mental and physical challenges,” said Elaine. “There’s more to it than running and push-ups.”
Such as speed chutes where participants use the drag of a parachute for resistance training and sand-filled power bags used for weight work.
Elaine, who has worked as a personal trainer for the past five years, said The Tops was an ideal place for fitness training.
“I love training outside and I know others do, too,” she said. “With this equipment, you can have a really great workout in a team atmosphere.”
The six-week course aims to foster co-operation as well as build self esteem.
“It caters for all fitness levels but it’s not suitable for first timers,” Elaine said.
It will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 6.15am to 7.45am, and costs $325, including all activities and equipment. For bookings, phone Elaine on 4294 1426.
